Stem cells are an outstanding tool to model diseases, screen drugs, and engineer tissues. In India, we have researchers who are working towards using stem cells in regenerative medicine and modern technologies like organ-on-chip. However, there are ethical limitations to the extent up to which we can advance in these research areas. We also lack an ecosystem for upscaling bioengineering research via biotech industries. In this podcast, we discuss the pros and cons of our policies and emphasize on the need for collaborations to bring out the best of our research potential.
