This activity brings to life the double helix structure of DNA by enabling you to make your own paper model. You can download instruction sheets for how to make the model that takes you through the process step-by-step.

Three model sheets are available. One is a full-color version showing how the DNA bases pair together called the “template sheet”. There is a blank version called the “Replicate the template sheet” where you can copy the template sheet and understand how complementary base pairing works. The third sheet is the “Fill the Bases” wherein you are supposed to fill the blanks with the complementary bases and color them accordingly.

This project is made possible by Bharath Atthe, Aditya Undru, Dr. K. Lakshmi Rao and Dr. Somdatta Karak.

This hands-on activity allows you to create your own paper model of a DNA double helix. Read the instructions, download and print the activity sheets to build your paper DNA model.
